Albert Lea Tournament Rules
Rules for on and off the ice:
1. All teams are requested to be ready to warm up 10 minutes before game time.
2. 5-minute warm up begins when the first team is on the ice. Pucks will be provided.
3. One 1-minute time out per game (not allowed in overtime).
4. All players must wear H.E.C.C. approved helmets and face masks and always have internal colored mouth guards in when on the ice. Helmets must be worn whenever a player is on the ice or on the bench.
5. This is a zero-tolerance facility, and no abusive or inappropriate language or actions will be tolerated. Any inappropriate action will lead to expulsion from the game. In more serious cases the expulsion could be for the weekend. We are trying to make it fun for the kids please remember that.

Penalties:
Peewee/U12/Squirt/U10 Bantam/U15
Minor = 1:30 = 2:00
Major + GM = 5:00 = 5:00
Misconduct = 10:00 = 10:00
Game Misconduct = Out of Current Game + Next Game
Match = Out until a hearing can be conducted by governing District Board
Period Length:
Mites / U8 will play 1 Hour Running Time (Cross Ice)
Squirts / U10 will play 15-minute stop time.
Bantam / U15, Peewee / U12 will play 15-minute stop time.
Resurface Schedule:
Every 2 periods for Bantams / U15, after every game for all Peewee / U12 / Squirts / U10 and every two games for Mites / U8.
3rd period will go to running time when a team gains a 6- goal advantage (Note: If both teams agree - running time can start prior to the 3rd period. The clock will revert to stop time if the goal advantage reverts to four (4) or less.
Penalties:
Fighting will not be tolerated (Automatic Major Penalty + Game Misconduct + 3 Game Suspension). All players will be ejected after the 4th penalty in any game and assessed a Game Misconduct. If a Team accumulates 12 penalties during the same game, the Head Coach will be suspended for the next game. If 2 Misconduct penalties are assessed to a player during the same game, a Game Misconduct will be assessed in lieu of the 2nd Misconduct. All Major Penalties will include a Game Misconduct Penalty. All Game Misconducts carry an additional Game Suspension.
Only USA Hockey Registered Referees will be used.
A Certified EMS Medical Attendant will be at all games.
EMS attendants are not paramedics. They have Basic First Responder Training. They can evaluate the injury and provide Basic First Responder Training. If the injury is outside Basic First Responder Training, it will the coach's discretion to have the EMS attendant to call Law Enforcement Dispatch for an Ambulance to be dispatched to the Arena. They have some training in Concussion protocol. All coaches should have gone through the mandatory concussion protocol training per USA Hockey / MN Hockey. In event of an injury on the ice, the referee should be the first one to the athlete. The referee will make the decision on whether the coach needs to be called into the ice. The referee and coach can determine if it is necessary for the EMS attendant to come on the ice.
This is a USA Hockey/Minnesota Hockey Sanctioned Tournament. USA Hockey rules as modified by MN Hockey for the classification involved must be adopted.
Canadian teams must wear protective equipment as designated by CAHA
“Pool Play” scoring is as follows: Win = 2pts. Tie = 1pt. Loss = 0pts. Tie breakers will be based on 1st: head-to-head, 2nd: goal differential (against all teams in pool - 6 goals maximum per game), 3rd: fewest goals allowed & 4th: fewest penalty minutes.
Overtime Rules (Sunday Games Only):
1. There will be a 1-minute rest between Regulation and the OT period.
2. There will be 1 Sudden Death Period of 5 Minutes (Running Time - 5 on 5).
3. If still tied after the Overtime Period - There will be a 3 Player Shoot Out with the Visiting Team going first.
4. If still tied after the 3 Player Shoot Out - Will begin using a 1 Player Shoot Out until a winner is determined.
5. Each team is required to use all skaters before any one player can participate a second time.
